Members chief04
Hey, I am in the planning stages of getting the specs together for a custom guitar and need advice on this. How important is the neck wood to the characteristics of a guitar?? I am trying to get as much info as possible on this as I want to get it spot on and not wish later down the line that I should have got something else Anyway The guitar in question is going to be a jackson soloist with a mahogany body and neck thru construction. Options are Quartersawn maple, mahogany, Korina, Koa, Flamed maple and Birds eye maple. Now hit me with the knowledge;)
Members trailsofsin
Maple will give you a brighter, snappier tone. Mahogany/Korina/Koa will give you a warmer/fatter tone. Check out warmoth's descriptions here for more info:warmoth
