Members MTDP8350
I'm getting an Ibanez RGA121 in a natural finish tomorrow. As you know, Ibanez pickups suck. I'm looking for something PASSIVE, however. I love the smooth neck shred tone, like Necrophagist, Steve Vai, Between the Buried and Me, Satch. I just need the neck clean tone to sound very sparkley, kind of like a darkish opeth kind of clean sound. For the bridge pickup, something {censored}ing AGGRESSIVE. Hard hitting, punchy, abrasive, like an EMG but I'm tired of that sound since I already have an EMG guitar. Any suggestions? Thank you guys, Bill

Members Megadeth7684
I would say a Duncan Jazz or '59 in the neck, and a JB in the bridge.

The JB won't give you a smooth sound IMO. MTDP8350, Paf pro in the neck and the Fred or Breed in the bridge

I know exactly what you mean, that's why they grate on me after a while. I haven't played an EVO in a while, but no other pickups have that digital EMG sound IMO.
