Members Steve Howe
So I just got a Vox AC15CC1 and love the cleans. Any admiration for the amp stops when it is either overdriven by cranking it or by running boost/OD/Distortion pedals in front of it. I'm guessing its the stock tubes? Or does anyone else have any suggestions? Thanks

Members Corso2
well, I don't have the CC, but good tubes in my AC15ri made a WORLD of difference. I put all JAN tubes in there....GE, Phillips, etc. Get a nice set of EL84s, and spend the money on a great V1, like a JAN-GE... As far as pedals go, it can be picky, since it is so midrangey already. Tubescreamer no, Boss SD-1 OK, Crowther Hotcake, very nice.
Members Steve Howe
Yeah. I think I'll retube it, then give it ago. The distortion is just very thin and brittle.
Members the russ
could be the tubes. could be your EQ settings. those'll get THIN when you crank the highs.

EQ doesn't really change much, so I'm gonna get it retubed and hope it sounds better
