Members BrewsterBuffalo
I'm thinking about picking one up as a practice/backup. Preferably 2X12
Members IceAak
I think you should check out an old Randall RG from the 80's or 90's. They can be had for cheap on your side of the pond, and they sound good i.m.o. Sort of like a mix between a Marshall JCM 800 and Peavey 5150. I'm not sure they come in 2x12 though. I have a Randall RG 80 Deluxe 1x12 combo that I really dig. It can get very loud for a SS as well, much too loud for an apartment
Members BrewsterBuffalo
1X12 vs 2X12 doesn't matter too much I guess, as a backup I could just run it into my 4X12 How are the newer rgs? rg200?
Members Ripping Rudy
I have one of the old RG combos - It's an RG-50 made in '86. It's a smoking little 1x12 combo amp and sounds better than a Marshall when you put it through a 4x12. I have no doubt that this amp made it onto many 80's recordings because it sounds like a beefier hot rodded JCM 800.
Members Mesa-Maniacal
I got a Randall RG75 at GC for $225. Ultra mean distortion and very clean cleans. Good buy!! It's a 1x12 with a Celestion 70/80 in it.

I just think the disto was better sounding ar first though..it felt tighter..now the speaker has broken in a bit and to my ears it doesn'T sound as good
