Members kannibul3
I recently bought an Avatar Vintage 2x12, closed back, with G12H-30 speakers. Granted, they aren't broken in yet, but I'm thinking this cab is a lot darker than my previous cab - a Marshall 1960A reloaded with G12H-30's. Just looking for ideas. I like the sound of the G12H-30 - just I can't get it to have enough treble. Then again my strings are old, my tubes might be old, and the speakers are new... Thoughts/advice? Members stangme01
yeah i'm not sure though v30s in a dark cab are also dark. Maybe g12t75's although they won't cop the same sounds IMO. Are you looking to sell those speakers? I'm looking to do an x-pattern in one of my cabs with those. Members stangme01
hmmm i have a bright ass b-52 at-100 speakers i could sell you, they sound just like v30's with more presence and more top end. They literally could never get dark.and usually speakers are at their brightest when they are new and actually calm down a little in the high end when broken in. Members V-Type
You could go the mixed speaker route. Like a V30 and gt 75 or a cl80 and V30 or really any other config you can think of.
Members troublehead
I have tried g12h30's twice and found them to be the brightest of the Celestions except for Classic Lead 80's.
Members stangme01
i think v30's seem a bit brighter (piercing) but the G12h-30 does have more top end, just not harsh.
