Members Mister Crowley
Ok guys I will be getting rid of my stock Marshall DSL 100 in lieu of a Splawn Quickrod with KT88's. I saw that Zakk Wylde and other metal players use 6550 tubes in their Marshalls ans was just wondering what the major differences between these two types of tubes would be. Thanks. I have some 6550s and KT88s. To me the KT88s have a little better bottom end, but I don't have Golden ears like some of these guys do ...... one thing is for sure, 6550s are way cheaper than KT88s ....... Oh well I'll just get the KT88's and call it day HOLD UP! holy...misinformation_central batman kt88 cost alittle more than 6550, not much though. to a slightly trained ears kt88 sound very clear very deep, hi fi like. 6550's have more agression in them and a more present mid range, no so hifi. this is only in my experiment with my modded DR Brae
Members Cougar Hunter
they're both sinfully loud and awesome. niether will break up like other power tubes. They probably won't break up at all. I use 6550's in my VHT 2150.
