Members NervePoet
I can only speak for the lyrics I like best. I like all types, as long as they are done well. My favorites, and the type I like to write, are those that leave it up to the listener to apply their own meaning to. For example, I have a song called "Shell Shocked Martyrs". When I wrote it, I was thinking of people who make it big in the music business and then turn to {censored} as a result egos and over indulgences. The people I played it for saw it as everything from a commentary on the Vietnam war, to people in failed relationships. I felt those lyrics were successful, because they had different meanings to everyone who heard them.
Members Welladjusted
cerebral yet personal. it depends on the delivery I guess. Bob Dylan singing Tool lyrics would sound odd, as would David Lee Roth singing Bob Dylan lyrics. it depends on the singer
Members tramampoline
I like mysterious lyrics (a la Radiohead), but I also like straightforward simple lyrics (ala Bob Dylan). So who knows.
