Members cool_E
From Pat Pattison, Writing Better Lyrics Here's one that I struggle with! -----------------------------------Summary... Pat starts out by stating that the basic ruleof songwriting is to keep your listeners interestedall the way through the song. Pat then goes throughsome examples and analysis showing how versescan be stale without new information presented.Pat is basically saying that each verse shouldadd new information to keep the listener interested. The new information also helps to give the chorus/refrain more interest as each time it is heard with a different color, provided by the verses. Exercise: Write three verses, each one ending with thesame line (call it a refrain). Each verse/refrainsystem should advance the storyline to the next place. Pat suggests that one way to approachthis is to move the story chronologically.Do what ever you like, just make it move.
