Members TheAceOfSpades
I can't believe no one has posted a reply. This is the slowest forum ever... Anyway, I happen to like the lyrics. The whole "love song, kissing, lips of a stranger" thing is a tad cliche, but other that that it's pretty good. I really, really like the imagery, especially in first and third stanzas. That's definately the strong point, IMO. All in all, some really good stuff.
Members misanthropy
i like that he saturates it with imagery - colors, smells, etc. usually help rather than hurt. seems like he put a lot of time into it - "monuments corroded" is also good. good song over all. the only thing i had a problem with - and i might be wrong here - but it seems like "lies of truth" might be putting contradictory ideas together just for the sake of having a contradiction without really helping the song along. but that's just one view of it. good song. Members lumina
... "To experience a place in the world so vividly and emotionally that you feel in it a likeness in the feelings it evokes to a special person that you know and have spent time with. It is this feeling that I've tried (probably in vain) to articulate here in Tourist. The failing on my part was probably to expect that listeners would retain the correlation between the "girl", and the place that is being interacted with. There are other elements than the spatial awareness issue here. One has to do with believing in the supernatural, or a place having feelings and emotions like a person would. Hearing lies of truth are what "I" want to hear, what "I" may need to hear from a place inside myself, yet it also means knowing their validity and/or plausibility. This emphasizes a conflict of belief. "... just in case you cared to hear what he has to say about the song. thanks for the replies guys. keep em coming!
