Summary of Balance Factors

 

Balance in music is about proportion. We first noted that music must contain both continuity and contrast in a symbiotic manner to be balanced.

 

Afterwards, we took a more mathematical approach to discuss how symmetry affects musical balance. A few concrete applications to this were noted. Symmetry creates balance because symmetry is balanced.

 

So if there isn't any more questions on factors that effect musical balance (there are an infinite amount really, but we can't go on forever), I'll start a new topic soon.
