Members bikehorn
My tastes are shifting strongly towards fuzzed-up early 70's hard rock sounds, with my 'ideal' sound being the tone Ron Wood had on "Stay With Me" by The Faces. I asked around about what kind of fuzz pedal would get me there, and I ended up going with a germanium Fuzzface/Tonebender clone. In my 'quest' though, some people told me that a lot of Woody's fuzz sound actually came from the Ampeg amps he was using at the time. Is this true? I've had very few chances to play Ampeg guitar amps and the few times I did, I was very, very far away from getting any breakup out of them. It(the V-4) was like an American Hiwatt in that it was LOUD and unfailingly clean at any sane volume. Does this mean that a lower-powered Ampeg of the same vintage might have this kind of sound? Maybe with a booster in front? Or.... my fuzz?

Members Noak
Have you tried out the T-rex Mudhoney pedal? I bought one on impulse just yesterday cause it sounded so good. It's fuzzy when the gain is up high, but it's a controlled fuzz that sounds sweet!
Members gizzi
maybe a vintage Garnet Herzog amp with the "stinger fuzz" section?
