Members telephant
Well Ill tell you this much, there is not a Peavey amp out there thats going to sound as righteous as your 800 IMO. *cue all 1 billion 5150 owners bitching*

Keep the 800. Get it modded if you want more gain etc.
Members laurens
Have you tried an OD pedal instead of that metal muff?
Members telephant
Have you tried an OD pedal instead of that metal muff? Werd. An SD-1 or a Tubescreamer in front of your 800 would give you a lot more clarity and articulation than that metla muff iMO.
Members Oblivion DC
I'm dying to pick up a JCM 800 again. If I were you I'd think twice before you got rid of it. Try different speakers in your cab and a different OD pedal before you get rid of your 800. Good luck.
Members MB-1
Have you tried an OD pedal instead of that metal muff? Hundreds..im digging the MM im running lower amp gain with it for metal.i do use a Barber LTD V2 for hard rock..also with a Zvex SHO.it just seems like most metal bands are using Mesa instead of Marshall.. Members whatsaguitar
i played a metal muff in front of my redbear(extremely similar to the 800). i tried it in my jcm900, triple rectifier, and classic 50 and it didnt give me what i was looking for quite like the red bear. keep that 800 you will regret selling it later. Members Sixtonoize
Yeah...you're right. Your 800 sucks. You should sell it to me for $300, and then you'll have $1100, which will get you any decent used super high-gain amp that you want.
Members SLfreak
Wow, there isn't even a question in my mind. I love my Peavey and play metal on it and it's been a great amp to me, but to me the JCM 800 is The Amp. Everything sounds better thru a JCM 800. My absolute favorite is a JCM 800 packing a Soldano hotmod, through a 1960 cabinet (add attenuator for practice volumes). I'm GAS'ing for one so bad I {censored} myself regularly.
