Members matc
Ok, I'm gonna buy a ceriatone amp very soon and I'm hesitating between two models : 18 watt tmb and the jtm-45. I play blues and rock and only at home. I currently have a blues junior which is 15 watts. I cranked it very often and it's loud (very loud in fact in a room). Now the thing is , I've always wanted a jtm-45 but that's 30 watts ! I want to be able to crank that thing. However, I've read that a 30watts amp is only 3dB louder than an 18watt amp. So is there a big difference between the 18watt and the 30 watts one ? I won't be using a hotplate by the way so that's out of the equation. Help me please ! Members superbillahler
:poke: A increase in 3dbs means its twice as loud, and since your power is doubling your sound output should to. It would almost be like playing thru two of your current amps. If your current amp has a effects loop you could run a Pod type processer into it (turning off the speaker sim ) and you will still get a nice real tube break up, however your preamp just got a lot better. Members matc
well I'm not sure about that. I've read many times that 10dB is twice as loud for most people (http://stereos.about.com/od/stereoscience/a/jargon1.htm)
