Members headmasterchaos
What band(s) did you have in mind? I know what you mean by modes, but what do you mean by "rules"? The band Pierrot is amazing if you haven't checked them out. It is a shame that they broke up this month.
Members dxdreamer
well, i'm interested in not just pop music actaully, and no specific band from my observation to sound japanese: intstermentation is really important... well yeah for electronic style: -most of the commercial production have electric guitar which almost never appeared in euro electronica except some psy Goa with simple powerchords -lots of dx bell/keyabord sounds -the numbers of layers are scary - lots of "hit" chords -since japanes is very phonic, every a i ku da... be become one note so fast songs with lots different note up and down wont go out of tune that easily as you can change pitches in every a i ku da ... in Rock: the main stream bands - very few use power chords constantly thru out the tracks - since japanese have must less bass in their current singing style bass and drums can be heard clearly in Orchestral and film/anime scoring: - uses french/english horm, string with mixed percusion from euro and asisa and with their tridional and other ethnic insturments + synths and almost always have a piano in one or most of the scoring tracks, which is quite different from many US file scoring. many uses just normal orchestral kits and fewer and fewer films using eletronic sound in music, just effects, and sometime never even the piano. in general many will have some pentatonic movement but stays in minor or major with lots flats or sharps in most productions which very often gives me the senes of sadness with bits of satisfation but would really like to know more so i can make some myself~
