Members gnizak
I'm buying an amp head with several different speaker outputs. Three different ones, in fact, at 16, 8, and 4 ohms respectively. I want to purchase a 2x12 cabinet for it but I'm not sure what ohm rating to order for the cab. Is there an advantage/disadvantage to using any of these outputs? Also, which combination would be ideal? I don't know much about these ohm ratings so any help would be appreciated. Members tommythelurker
Some people feel they can here a difference on some amps, but for the most part there's little difference tone-wise. The biggest concern is just matching the amp and cab. 8 ohms is usually the most flexible since some amps don't have a 16 ohm output but many amps will usually have a 4 ohm output in addition to the 8 ohm so you can use two 8 ohm cabs together if you ever wish too.
