Members strtdv Posted June 8, 2008 Members Share Posted June 8, 2008 I've had my Laney Lionheart for a while now, and I think its time for a full retube. I'm getting JJ EL84's for the power amp section, but I'm not sure what to get for the preamp. Laney tube amp have a lot of balls/grit compared to a Marshall (Laney owners you know what I mean), but I generally use single coils so the combination can make the amp sound a little harsh. Basically I'm looking for some preamp tubes that will tame/smooth out the preamp a little. Any suggestions?
