Members Davetopay
I could swear I have heard people talk about 6550/KT88's in place of 6L6/5881's......can that be done?
Members LesPaulCustom79
Not without having a amp tech change out the tube sockets and do alot of rewiring in your amp. 6550's have a larger base socket than 6L6GC's or 5881's. 6550's were really a bass amp type tube, not sure why Marshall used them in their guitar amps in the 80's except to make them smoother for the American market.
