Members mda96bjh
Is there any major difference between these 2?I could get a 5150 reasonably cheap at the moment to have a play with but if the 5150 II is better then i will wait for one of those to come up at bargain price
Members vrm
the 5150II has separate tone controls as well as presence and resonance for each channel, not shared like the original 5150.
Members PaoloJM
Had a 5150 in for repair the other day and I was f*kin' blown away by the sound, f*kin' huge!! Get's a bit fizzy with the gain past 6 on the lead channel though, but at 6 that's all the gain you could need!! Not too sure on the specific differences between it and the 5150II though, sorry. Members diavolo1
the lead channel is voiced a bit differently. alot of people will say they sound the same, but it wasn't close to me. i had the 5150II for a week or two, and couldn't get along with it. i've had the blockletter for about six months now, and love it. the 5150 is more fluid, a little more aggressive, and a little looser, but has alot of low end. Members Dr Wanker
Yeah they sound a bit different, the 5150 is a bit gainier with a bit more bottom. Armitage has the circuit changes necessary to make them sound almost identical.
