Members bengerm77
well maybe not huge. anyway I plugged into my ultra 120 today and ther's a weird ticking noise. It can be heard when I'm not playing. I plugged into the fx return on the amp and it's still there. What could be causing this? Is this a power tube problem? Is that a sign of a microphonic tube? Members bengerm77
it's a frequent and constant ticking that can be heard when I plug in through all channels. It's loudest on the gain channel, but it can still be heard on clean and when plugged into the fx return. I think it may be a power tube thing, but I'm not sure. It happened first when I plugged in through my board, and then I went straight to the amp and the ticking was still there. it's like a clock ticking but much fast. Just constant. Members sbrett
+1, turn the gain on your watch down.Is there a fan or some other electrical device nearby?Check the tubes--since everyone should always have a backup set that shouldn't be a problem now, should it? Members sbrett
Oh also, does your guitar have active pickups (i.e. uses a battery)? Sometimes when the battery in an active system starts running low you'll get the ticking.
