Members Soeru
Where are the test points and adjustment pots on this amp, do you need a socket probe to bias it? What are the optimal mV for each of the two tube types?
Members guitarcapo
I don't own that amp but found this explanation on another board, for what it's worth: Pull chassis, flip and support properly, hook up speaker cab and power, let it warm properly, pop out of standby (I played a guitar for a few to be sure it was "non-standby warm"), and then use the probe receptacle on the board for whichever power tube set you want to bias, and set to mV number printed on the board (forget values offhand.. they are different for each pair). Use an insulated (or plastic) screwdriver, adjust pot. I used the chassis as the ground, and then rechecked the bias a few days later. I replaced the EL84's with a JJ set from Doug's Tubes, and biased both the EL84's and 6V6's; 6V6's were slightly cold. After bias, full clock or counter clock was more closely matched in level, with noon being louder (expected, intended).
