6505+ mains fuse help

Re-tubed the power tubes..bias adjuster maxed out was running at 29mA. JJ 6L6's. after 3 minutes of playing the mains fuse blew and the amp shut down. reason for this? thanks guys.

Are you trying to read ma with the bias test points of the amp or are you using a bias probe? The bias test points read bias voltage not bias current. They are useless for setting the bias.

JJ's suck, I've seen a lot of problems with them.

I agree with you on the JJ's. I've had great luck with SED "C" 6L6s big fat clean sound and works great in those amps

used the amp head bias tester (goes in tube sockets) to check the bias. i know the points are useless..and yeah i think i'm done with JJ's..i just went and picked up new fuses and put my old tubes back in, and the amp turned on..thanks guys!!!

yep, sure as hell was the tubes, because i put the old set back in (at 17mA) and the amp works fine (after replacing the fuse of course.) stupid JJ's a few minutes andddddd poof.
