Members big Idiot Posted April 29, 2010 Members Share Posted April 29, 2010 I've got an Orange OR80 that I'm really digging, I just need to eek a little more gain out of it for some heavier parts of my bands songs... I've got the gain control at about 3, any more on that and it starts to get a bit muddy. I've tried a MOSFET clean boost moderately boosting the input and dug it well enough; good sound, just introduced too much sag, and lost some punch. I'm thinking I need a pedal that will add some transparent, punchy gain straight to the input, almost like adding another pre-amp tube essentially. I've tried a couple tube pedals, most were pretty meh... I did get to try an Xotic BB Preamp once, although not on my amp. That seemed to be close to what I was looking for. Would the AC booster be worth checking out? Or something else entirely? Or should I just get higher output pickups? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
