Members dstrats
Hi all, New here and I have a very important question. I ordered some tubes from the "Tube Store" 'bout 2 weeks ago. I just looked at them today. I was examining them for breakage and such when I noticed the power tubes are in a slight angle from the base (black part) of the tube. They are EH tubes. Are they broken? Will this hurt my amp if they are installed? Should I send them back or are they fine, and it doesn't matter that they aren't perfectly straight up and down? Please help!!!! I have an appointment to get them installed and the amp re-biased tomorrow. Jon from the "Tube Store" said that they are fine and that's just what "Russia" is giving these days. I look forward to somebody's reply. Thanks in advance
Members planetcaravan13
I have a quad of Sovtek EL34s in my Laney and one of them is slightly at an angle. It should be fine if the glass is not loose in the plastic base. Make sure that the top of the tubes are not frosted looking, this could indicate a vacuum leak. Members dstrats
Hey, Thanks for the response. I greatly appreciate your comment. What do you mean by "frosted"? They have a chrome look to them on the top... isn't that normal? Where would the frost be located? Thanks again.
Members Sir H C
Chrome is normal, if the glass has a crack somewhere the chrome looking part gets a white-ish frosted look. That is when you know the vacuum is gone.
