Members mcr23
OK so obviously the BB sounds great through a clean channel but can you use it for an OD boost (like an OCD) or would that not be an ideal use for this pedal? Got a line on one this afternoon...
Members Spaced Out Ace
I believe a couple people on the fryette boards mentioned liking it and the RC booster.
Members NaturalBornBoy
Boost. I've been using one for a year or so now and I've been through quite a few boosters. By far my fave booster It just gives you more of your tone and doesn't really impart its own tone. Unlike the DS-
Members spawnofthesith
Absolutely yes. When I had my Mark V, I boosted the crunch mode on channel two with one and that combo was aural sex. Sounded much better than many other boosts I tried

Members Dolf
The bb is just a sick ts-style pedal. Should be perfect. Hell, Timmons likes it?

It doesn't have the annoying mid-hump for one.

Members NaturalBornBoy
You can mod that out. Mod that out of a TS style pedal? Why would you? It defeats the purpose of getting a TS in the first place IMO.

Because it's a circuit. If Maxon had designed the thing without the mid hump, everyone would be saying "why would you?" Obviously, because you can. Members NaturalBornBoy
So you do it just cos' you can? Whatever floats your boat. Don't like the mid-hump, don't buy a TS
Members Spaced Out Ace
So you do it just cos' you can? Whatever floats your boat. The TS circuit is pretty versatile. Maxon didn't have to design it with the mid hump and bass cut, but they did. SD-1s, ZW-44s, and I believe even Fulldrives are just different TS flavors. Members stompboxfreak72
I have the BB and Rc. Not bad buht not my favorite either. Both pedals add more compression than other pedals. Its not a bad thing and obviously to be expected with OD pedals but they just add too much. The midhump is the defining characterstic of a Tubescreamer to mod it out would be like modding out the clean channel on a Fender amp.

Members Dolf
I've still never tried an RC boost. I want one like hardcore, but spending over a hundred bucks on a "fancy lpb-1" makes me die inside.
Members Spaced Out Ace
Why the ? Because the concept seems like it's escaping your comprehension or something. Just because it's a TS style pedal doesn't mean it has to have a bass cut, mid hump, or even sound like a TS. There are those pedals that try to sound like vintage TS pedals, those that try to make a different TS flavor, and those that just make the original TS pedal more "hi fi". Also, taking out the mid hump and bass cut makes it more transparent from what I've read.

Tons of mods do it, and tons of pedals that use the same or a similar circuit do the same thing, so why can't it be done again? :poke:

Members NaturalBornBoy
the midhump is ONE defining characteristic of a ts, broseph. I know. The bass cut is another one. So if a pedal that claims to be a TS style pedal, doesn't have the defining mid-hump or the bass cut, can it still be considered a TS style pedal?
