Members carryonplease
my friend and I had at our disposal an 81 jcm 800 cab, 77 slant cab and a 2006 vintage cab.We were sad to find that the 2006 one was made entirely of particle board I would buy a vintage one, they are cheap, made with real wood, and the speakers are broken in better. I bought one new around 2004/5ish that was still ply. I wonder when they switched?
Members carryonplease
I'm not sure of the exact year of the new one to be honest...but if your was ply it must have been at least 2006 haha.

There was a point when the changed the 1960 Tag on the bottom left. They took off the "Lead Series" designation. I'd be willing to bet those are the cabs with the different construction. I sold off that cab though. I have 2 JCM 800 cabs and one early JCM900 cab.
Members ShaneV2
I would never buy a Marshall cab new. Not because of any quality difference, but just because the used market is so stupidly saturated with them that the savings over new are completely insane. Members sevchenko
The new 1960 are still made with plywood. The MG cabs are made with particle board.
Members carryonplease
^ yea but this was a 1960 vintage cab (with vintage 30s) it was all particle board, not just the back anyway like others have said theres no reason not to buy one used.
