Members Lt_Core Posted May 5, 2011 Members Share Posted May 5, 2011 I don't have a lot of experience with different speakers. I've had Vintage 30's and Budda Phat speakers in the past. I'm looking to add a cab to my just-purchased Peavey Classic 50 head. I play in a rock cover band with a Les Paul, Strat & Tele. Pedal board full of pedals (Timmy, Paisley Overdrive, COT50, Triple Wreck, Plimsoul, etc.). I'm testing out a closed back 1x12 cab loaded with a Warehouse Guitar Speaker (WGS) G12A alnico (clone of a Jensen P12N, from what I gather). I'm also considering an Avatar 2x12 contemporary cab loaded with a Weber Silver Bell and Blue Dog. The back is 3/4 closed. I have no way of trying out the cab since it's halfway across the country. The 1x12 is not as wide as the Classic 50 and it hangs about an inch or two over each side. Seems stable but it makes me nervous, hahaha! From what I read the G12A from WGS is more of a vintage speaker, while the Weber's may be more suited for rock music. Thoughts? Thanks! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
