Members pekelnik
Hi guys. I'm building rangemaster clone(s), and I just realized, that in most schematics, there is current flowing through the amp even if it's off. Like here: Does anybody have a solution to this problem? I have a 3pdt switch and would like to have true bypass, indicator LED but no current when off.. Edit: Only when input jack is plugged in, obviously... Members amp_surgeon
That looks like a pretty typical design. Current flows anytime there is a plug in the input jack. Removing power from the effects circuit when bypassed generally has bad side effects. It takes a fraction of a second for the effects circuit to power up, which means your guitar goes silent briefly. The circuit can also make odd noises when it's powering up, including pops, swells, oscillations, etc. The only way to avoid this stuff is to keep the effects circuit powered up all the time. If you're concerned about the pedal drawing battery current during breaks or between sound check and the first set, then either pull the input plug or add a separate power switch.
