Alright, so with my new band I want to send a click to my drummer and send samples and backing tracks to FOH. I've figured a good way to do this is make a stereo track with a click on the left side and backing tracks on right. We'll be running the tracks out of an iPod and I'm going to use a 1/8" stereo to L and R mono splitter cable. Now, for the backing tracks I'm going to run a 1/8" to XLR male cable like this:

All I can find online is a two ring stereo cable like that^. Now, my real question here is with that stereo cable being fed with a mono signal from the splitter, will it sound right? I know if you're trying to do the opposite it'll typically sound like crap. Will my system work?

iPod> mono L and R splitter> L to drummer, R to 1/8" stereo to XLR cable> FOH
