Members whole lotta zep
just dipped a toe into the world of slide playing. Can anyone offer advice or tips and the best tunings to use. Cheers.
Members TexTosh
I think open G is the best one to start with (DGDGBD). There are a ton of song in this tuning and a capo at the second fret gets you open A. My second favorite is open D, lots of songs fall easily under this tuning. Almost all elmore james tunes for example. Then just capo at second fret for open E. Hope that helps. Rory

Members frankentele
Open C is a lot of fun too, but don't try it with light-gauge strings....mediums at bare minimum.
Members 54merk
Open D and open G are very close to one another. Think of open D as being the same as G except everything moves down to the next lower string. I have also experimented with open Gminor for George Harrison's While My Guitar Gently Weeps.
