Members guitarcapo
I just bought a cheap Harmony acoustic on ebay for 70 bucks. It's all solid mahogany. The top and back are actually one piece mahogany. Anyway these guitars are great when you can find them to fix up. This one might need a neck reset sooner or later but other than that it's fine. Anyway it's ladder braced, which is typical of Harmony guitars. The ladder bracing seems to give the guitar a lot more snap and bite. Along with the smaller body size, it's got a lot more trebel than you'd expect out of mahogany and it's made me re-think the potential for hardwoods as a top wood. I think it's all a matter of how you brace them. Great fingerpicking sound!
Members guitarcapo
Here are some pics now that I have the back off this puppy. I usually will remove the braces and X brace the whole shebang and glue it back together. This one sounded pretty good so I'm just going to shape the braces a bit and leave it ladder braced. I have a Sovereign Jumbo I'm doing this to also.
