Members Leo Chang
Hi, I just "inherited" a nylon string classical not too long ago from a friend that moved away. Wasn't expecting to play it much, but I was fooling around on it and realized it has a solid top rather than laminate as I originally thought. So now I want to put some new strings on it (the wound strings have rusted) to hear what it sounds like at its best. So, what strings would you guys recommend? btw, it's a Samick, so I am not expecting much, but it sounds decent even with the really old strings, and the back and sides look like mahogany, and the top looks like solid cedar. Members Sparkytfl
I've been using Daddario pro artes for years. They're pretty much the standard.

Pro-Arte composites, hard tension (I uss extra hard) will make that baby sing it's guts out. Dan
Members JasonA
My favorites are the Savarez Corum basses with Hannabach carbon trebles.
Members Leo Chang
Thanks for the replies Originally posted by nexialist Pro-Arte composites, hard tension (I uss extra hard) will make that baby sing it's guts out. Dan Does how "hard" the tension is correspond to normal gauges? As in gauge 10, 11 etc?
Members ralphster007
D'Addarios are always a good, safe choice. Some guitars love Savarez; others are indifferent. So be sure to experiment. I use a Savarez/D'Addario mixed set.
Members AJWhiting
I am definitely hooked on Savarez Alliance Hard Tension Strings. I used the Pro Arte's for years and they are a very very close second........
