Members Ben-_-Ben Posted June 11, 2004 Members Share Posted June 11, 2004 I just got my *brand new* AD70s from the UPS guy today. I am very dissappointed in this guitar. The action is higher than Willy Nelson at a Phish concert. The fretwork is terrible and beginning to split in same places. It has many imperfections in the finish and also has a few nicks on the fretboard. The nut and saddle are made out what appears to be the cheapest material possibleand setup by Ray Charles (RIP). The sound is also quite terrible. It doesn't have that full bodied tone and doesn't have any bell like qualities either. Basically, it just sounds cheap. And yes, this is after I put new strings on it. Good thing I only paid $190 for it instead of the $298 some online stores will charge. However, I think the reason why are they less new on ebay is because they are factory defect models. That would explain a LOT. If I had known beforehand though that this was a factory defect or "grade b" model then I never would have bought it. Beware of cheap Alvarez guitars on ebay!
