Members apostrophe
i stumbled upon this tuning in college and it was always a fav with my conga/percussion playing roomate. we would jam for hours in that tuning. just ride on the B like theres no tomorrow. got a real ravi shankar thing happenin. now i got a brand new guitar and im wondering if putting it in that tuning could hurt it? its only 2 weeks old.....should i wait? Members joestierman
You're tuning everything down to get that, right? If so, i don't think it will hurt it at all. just don't tune a lot over standard. I would feel safe with open E, but nothing more. BTW, you could try using a capo to make it EBEECD, etc. Or DADDDD.. I think thats dashboard confessional's tuning on "screaming infidelities"? Cool sounding... the song is like one big D chord. I like these "open" (this isn't exactly open D) tunings because you can just slide around on single notes and hit everything else open and it sounds good on nearly every note.
