Members deevee
Saw these two in concert last Friday at College of DuPage and they blew me away. Halfway into a solid first set they brought out Zafir Hussein to play tablas, and really put together some great improvisations, with Fleck's banjo doing some wonderful sitar impressions. Not sure of the setlist, but at one point Bela left the stage to get a dobro guitar and with Meyer on piano, they played a great song. Meyer was very impressive, playing with and without bow, and it's obvious they were enjoying the night. If you get a chance to see them, do it. If not, there's a CD (Music for Two) with 74 minutes of great banjo and bass bluegrass/jazz/classical fusion going on with a bonus DVD of the concert and making the CD. Members riffmeister
they are a most fantastic duo........both are musical wiz kids!! funniest part of the concert I saw with them was when Bela kept 'interrupting' Edgar on the grand piano with a footcontroller that made a cell phone noise through the PA.....it was hilarious!! Members deevee
Yeah, there's a kinda musical nerdiness about them. When Bela walked offstage to get his dobro, Edgar seemed really at a loss in talking with Zafir--got the impression this was their first time together, which made the way they played together so exciting. When they brought down the house with the piano, dobro, tabla number, Bela said, "not bad for a first rehearsal..." Bela had to walk offstage right before the second set because he forgot his glasses!
