Members bjorn-fjord
I have a Johnson bell brass resonator with a biscuit type bridge. How do you lower the action on this type of bridge? You need to file the string grooves deeper into the wood saddle on the biscuit. But be careful, it's not easy to undo. Whenever I set up that type of guitar I do it with the coverplate removed. It's a major PITA to work around the coverplate. You can string the guitar up to tension without the coverplate in place and it won't hurt anything. Members whit townsend
why would you not remove the insert & file down the bottom rather than deepening the notches?
Members AK47
why would you not remove the insert & file down the bottom rather than deepening the notches? The base part of the biscuit supports the saddle part. If you cut too much away from the support then you risk the biscuit breaking. once you deepen the groove for the desired string hight then you need to sand off the excess material from the top. If you check stewmac they have free info on their web page for biscuit setup.
