Members kelleygraphy
A friend of mine has a 90's epiphone with a cracked headstock and wanted to know what would be the best type of glue to repair it with.? Any advise? Right now the crack is barely visible but iif he lets it go I'm sure he's in for a break. Thanks Kelley
Members Samilyn
If you're absolutely certain the crack has gone into the wood and is not just a finish crack, your best bet is going to be CA (cyanoacrylate) glue, A/K/A "Krazy Glue." But do not go to the nearest Wal-Mart for a tube of the cheap stuff. Go to a well-stocked hobby store and buy the thinnest CA glue they have. Do not use a gel type glue. Dribble the glue into the crack a little at a time, then clamp if at all possible. Keep doing this until the crack is filled. I would also advise changing to very light gauge strings and tuning the guitar down until the repair is done. Too much tension on the headstock will only make matters worse until the headstock is repaired.
