Members DarkHorseJ27
I was giving my wife her first guitar lesson, and I found she is double jointed in all her fingers on both hands. The problem it was causing is that with her fretting hand fingers wanted to close up completely when they are arched tight when doing chords. Is anyone else here double jointed in there fingers and had a similar problem? If so, what was the solution?
Members Fred Fartboski
An old friend of mine is double jointed. It's amazing the facility with which can play barre chords. It's like his fingers are a set of mini capos.
Members Jim Sallis
I am. The joints aren't as flexible as when I was young (nothing is), but they're still pretty weird. I had a very difficult time learning to play guitar, as the first joints just bent backwards whenever I'd fret. Took quite a lot of time and concentration and moving slowly. I've been playing now for 45 years or so: guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, Dobro, steel.
