Martin LX1 (Little Martin)

Hey guys,

 

tried a Martin LX1 (Little Martin) this week-end and absolutely loved it!

 

I was incredibly surprised on how loud this little guitar can play. Plus it has a solid spruce top.

 

I was looking to buy a second acoustic guitar that I can carry around, play around the fire, throw on the back seat of the car...etc.

 

Does any of you have one?

How do you like it?

Any pros/cons?

LX1 is a fine guitar, better than Baby Taylor.

But do yourself a favor and try the LXM. Same guitar except with HPL top instead of solid spruce. It's even sweeter, louder, fuller than LX1. Don't know why HPL can sound better than spruce, but this seems to be the opinion of those who have compared both models. The HPL top is alot more rugged for campfire etc.

I bought LXK2 (which is LXM with Koa pattern) twice over.

I don't own one, but have played a few when browsing the git stores. I did like the playability and the tone was surprising for such a small git. However, I would not pay that kind of bucks for something I'd use as a camping/toss-in-the-car beater unless I could get a used one for dirt cheap.

 

Additionally, I do like the HPL. It's very, very tough stuff. I'm not particularly gentle with my D12X1 and the HPL shows nary a scratch.
