Members mmbrajohan
Hi guys... I'm in the process of buying myself a guitar which I will be using to record songs through my mbox mini 2. Which of these are the best to use? Pick-up wise... Sound wise... Takamine EG 320C FENDER CD-140SCE They are both priced the same... Does anybody know these guitars? Thank you...
Members mmbrajohan
I read somewhere that the takamine sound tinny... The one I played on didn't, but it wasn't the same model..
Members gurutoo
I'm usually a Takamine hater but... this sounded pretty good and looked very nice. I do detect a wee bit of the dreaded "piezo quack" but that is to be expected in this price range. The fender: There are several other clips both plugged an unplugged on youtube. For the same money: Takamine Imo.
Members mmbrajohan
I listened to the sound demos of the quitars on thomann.de and the fender actually sounded fuller... Thanks for the video's... How about this as another competidor? http://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_sonoran_sce_na_upgraded.htm PS - I noticed the fender quitars have solid spruce tops... Does that make a difference? fender - http://www.thomann.de/gb/fender_cd140sce_na.htm takamine - http://www.thomann.de/gb/takamine_eg320c.htm?sid=cc0f940811d2402a53688a37c0e33de8
Members gurutoo
PS - I noticed the fender quitars have solid spruce tops... Does that make a difference? Absolutely! Especially unplugged. Typically, solid is better sounding than laminate.
Members mmbrajohan
Do you think the "Fishmann Isys III pre-amp and pickup" on the Sonoran will have less piezo quack? The price difference is really not that big on all 3 guitars... Would you still go for the Takamine?

After seeing this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKNFTT5jnzY&feature=related and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5SahxKH40E&feature=related I think I'm liking the Fender/Fishman setup. I'm pretty sure the "classical gas" video is being run through an amp. Less "quack" to my ears than the Tak. If it were me buying in that price range-I'd be buying this: http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Epiphone-Inspired-by-1964-Texan-AcousticElectric-Guitar?sku=581880#used A solid wood (Hog) acoustic/electric for $359.00? * Body Style: Advanced Jumbo * Top: Solid spruce * Back: Solid mahogany * Sides: Mahogany * Tuners: Vintage with Small Buttons * Fingerboard: Rosewood * Fingerboard Radius: 14" * Neck: One-piece mahogany * Neck Joint: Glued-In, Dovetail * Neck Shape: SlimTaper * Scale: 25-1/2" * Top: Solid spruce * Back: Solid mahogany * Sides: Mahogany * Bridge: Reversed Belly rosewood * Pickup: Shadow NanoFlex * Controls: Master volume, 1-Hi EQ, 1-Low EQ * Hardware: Nickel * Finish: Antique Natural Poylurethane DEMO: Yeah it's used but waaay more guitar than any of the others 1st mentioned Let us know what you get!
