Members jmfields
I front and play acoustic rhythm guitar in a four-piece Americana act (music here: http://www.morningriverband.com), but I also gig solo. I am looking to improve my guitar technique so I can "solo" on guitar instead of harmonica, but I don't know where to begin. Seems to me I should work on some kind of fingerpicking style, in order to keep the bass going during the instrumental sections, but I am open to suggestions. Thanks! Members jmfields
I mean "soloing" during solo gigs. During the instrumental parts where I usually play harmonica.
Members Chicken Monkey
You need to articulate what you're looking for here. If you want to be able to fingerpick while you're playing solo, the Paul Pigat Hillbilly Fingerstyle DVD is not a bad place to start. Otherwise, your local library has a few books on fingerstyle folk guitar you can check out.
Members jmfields
Well, basically I write country songs with root-5 strumming rhythm-guitar parts. This works fine in the context of a band, with a pedal steel as the primary solo instrument. But when I play solo, I usually blow the solos on harp, and I'm not satisfied with that... I'd like to play those solos on guitar, but I'm not sure how to approach it in the solo singer/songwriter context.
