Members justi
well its finally time to buy a new guit! I've been playing my hollow body Jay Turser for a long time now and want to move on. I played a PRS CE24 with a wide-thin neck at my local Samash and LOVED IT, like seriously I was contimplating just walking out with it I wanted it so bad . but since I do not have the money to afford something of that caliber I am looking for something copy-ish. I really would like for it to feel almost the same or very close to a ce24 as it was absolutely perfect for me when I played it. dillion copies? tokai copies? agile ps-900? any suggestions welcome! I'm just trying to see if theres an easier route than saving up $1200 or so.
Members Hacker
PM DetourMS, he is a forumite and an online Dillion dealer. I bought a nice Dillion 450 (semi-hollow) McCarty-type for $400. He has alot of Dillions PRSish guitars. Nice guy too.
Members V-Type
If you already like the PRS feel and want it on a budget get a PRS SE. New they are less than $500. Used they are $250-$400. A pickup swap and a good setup and you will be very happy. I am.
Members d_dave_c
Do the SE's have the same coil-splitting that the other PRS's have? If not, are the pickups capable of being split or would you have to replace w/ 4 wire pickups?
Members V-Type
I dont think the stock pickups are capable of that. Like I said deffinately switch them out as they are not the greatest. I have two 4 wire pup's in her now( Duncan Jazz,Duncan Custom custom) and the tones are very close to the CE models. I have not wired it to split the coils but should be relatively cheap.
