Members funkywrench
I've heard that the rio grande bbq be described like that before. I have never used either pickup so i can't vouch for the accuracy of that comment but i've heard a lot of good things about the bbq's. So much so that i plan to get one as soon as i can afford it! Members TheDarxide
According to SD's tonechart, the '59 and the Alnico II Pro. Latter doesn't have quite so much output though.
Members legiticus
True, but the '59 doesn't have the output. I'm thinking maybe another brand of pickup or something.
Members syrinx
have you tried raising the bass side and lowering the treble side? that in conjunction with light/heavy hybrid strings may be a real ear opener- and cheap to try!
Members Forbidden
Amp > Turn up the bass !!! I was playing the other day in my band and decided to take my epi with a JB in the bridge and it was bassy as hell it sounded incredible.

Members Crunchtime
Ive also heard the Carvin c22b is similar. I don't have a JB but do have the c22b. It is very versatile with killer harmonics. Ive got it in the bridge and neck of my ct6m. Had it in an all mohogany DC125 and did not like it as much. It seemed alot less punchy compared to the ct6m with a maple cap.
