Members falconproject
Can you help a brother out, I just received a new strat body I won off of ebay and the neck pocket is too wide. It's about a 16thof an inch too wide from side to side. My old body seems to fit just fine. Is there a remedy or should I send it back? thanks for the help in advance. Members miked58
Personally, I'd send it back. You really need a good tight neck pocket or your guitar will suffer tone- and sustainwise. By the way, what are you using for a neck? Who made the body?
Members falconproject
It's an american standard neck, circa 1994. I got the body off of ebay from from of those powerseller super stores. It appears to be routed on thebottom side (playing position) after the paint was applied, there's no way I could have noticed that in the pics. Members miked58
I'd definitely send it back. You can find plenty of bodies that have a proper fender neck pocket.

Members augustin25
That sucks, but you might not be able to "just send it back." Did the seller post something saying along the lines of "I guarantee it will fit the neck you have" or post exact specs that are clearly wrong? Members falconproject
They did post that if it says "new" they will return my money, if its used sorry no dice. the posting says neither. I really want my money back. or a replacement body. the neck was routed a little bit on the bottom side of the pocket after the body was painted. This sin't discernable in the photos. I think it's only fair to give me my cash back, from the first email I recieved from the dude, I think he's starting to balk.
