Members NashSG
I came across a Jackson King V KV3 in a pawn shop last week for $250 bucks. It was in good shape and included the case, so I picked it up. After getting a friend to set up the Floyd Rose, as I a have never had a guitar with one, it is playing pretty well. The Duncan Designed pickups are not that inspiring. The bridge is real thin sounding and the neck is a bit dull, so I am considering swapping them out. My friend that set up the Floyd said he thought a set of Seymour Duncan Distortions would sound good in this guitar. Those seem like a pretty good suggestion, but there seems to be quite a few people in the reviews on this site who think they are really too bright for an Alder wood guitar, which this KV3 seems to be. I don't mind having a higher output humbucker, but kind of want to keep away from pickups that need batteries. Any other suggestions?
Members TheDarxide
depends on the music you play, personal preference would be something like a JB in the bridge, and an Alnico II in the neck.
Members cynicalphish
Putting a JB in the bridge would be good, and it would give you a lot of versatility. For metal, you could use the JB or Distortion, or put active EMG's in it.
