Fender Music Master Guitars....anyone know anything about these things?

Hey Folks,

A buddy of mine here at work brings in this Fender MusicMaster Guitar. According to the headstock, it was "Made in the U.S.A". The serial number on the headstock is 7603356.

 

However, there is another number on the plate which is on the back of the body on this guitar. That serial number reads JV27433.

 

Can anyone give me any details about this guitar? It's pretty hideous in my opinion, but if I can get it for a good deal it might be worth it. Especially if it's a collectors piece.

 

Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to know what it's worth too if possible.

The fact its apparently got a JV serial number neck plate, which comes off an early issue Japanese Squier, makes me suspect at the very least its a parts guitar. Here's a page on Musicmasters and Duosonics, which should give you an idea if its authentic or not.

It sounds like a Parts-O-Master. The body number points to early 80s Japanese while the neck points to 1977 USA. Post pics.

Thanks for the link. It looks like the pic of the 76 that is there....which would correspond with the '76' that starts the serial number on the one I have here. But none of the back decals show any numbers....only the big Fender 'F'.

 

More than likely a Parts guitar.....good to know.
