Members ElectricMayhem
There is no listing on the dimarzio site for any such pickup with 2 conductor wiring. It is double-creme, allegedly from the 80s, and has only a hot and ground wire coming off it. What could this be?
Members ElectricMayhem
Well, I put it in the neck and it's pretty good there, but I have a feeling it's a bridge pickup. It has the typical posts like a PAF style would with the adjustable screws on one of the bobbins.
Members ElectricMayhem
bump... they sound pretty damn good, by the way. Thanks AmpliFire... I am rockin' them in my Dillion '58 Korina V knockoff.
Guest Anonymous
Diamarzio has been using 4-wire humbucking pickups since the 70's, so any pickup with two wires is more than likely a vintage-style PAF.

That's what I assumed. Thanks. It's super sweet for the clean tones. I can manage some Wind Cries Mary tone with this thing.
Members killyridols
Yeah its an old Dimarzio PAF. I used to have one just like it.
Members Armitage
In the 70's and early 80s (and maybe later FAIK) the Super Distortion came with two wires, the four wire version was the Dual Sound... The oldest Super Distortion I have is one wire with a braided shield/ground.

Hearing the clean tones of this one it is clear this one isn't a SD. The other one is in the bridge and it's pretty aggressive.
Members TheDarxide
Does it look like this?: That was my very first guitar, many, many years ago. Both pickups were stamped Dimarzio, i didn't know what they were either. I assumed Super Distortion when I actually found out about guitars...... It's been in around 5 guitars at this point (and has since been replaced in this one... too bright).
