72 Thinline Pickguard Question

I just picked up a brand new 72 thinline telecaster reissue. Unfortunately, I'm not a big fan of the white pearloid pickguard. I've decided that I'd rather have a black one, since that would probably look better with the natural color. My question is whether a pickguard, such as this one would fit it. My main concern is whether there is a difference in the actual 72 and reissue, because in some other past ebay auctions, they mention a difference, but I'm not sure. Thanks for any help.
