Members Drumr
I record at home on my PC with Sony Vegas.Used an Echo Layla Sound card/breakout box.Just bought an Alesis M-M/16 Firewire mixer, it's not here yet. I have no other sound card on my PC. My question:After removing my Layla, and adding the Alesis, am I going to need a "sound card" of some sort?Or will the Alesis become the sound card. This just occured to me today. Will I need a new soundcard, like a sound blaster or something for just playing mp3s and midi files and such? Sorry if this is a dumb question. Members casper2
"The MultiMix FireWire series are great sounding standalone mixers with an integrated 24-bit FireWire interface. Each input channel on the mixer (plus the stereo mix) is sent into your computer while a stereo output is received from the computer for monitoring." Quote from Alesis website. This means yes you can monitor from mixer. Just make sure you configure the ouput routing for the alesis in your recording program. Just as a side note besides removing the Layla hardware make sure to uninstall any software/drivers to the Layla.
Members Drumr
Thanks Casper, I removed all the layla and echo drivers. That's when i discovered I didn't have a soundcard. However, all was not lost, I looked in the PC Bios and foundthat it had onboard audio that I can use until the Alesis arrives.
