Members Slave_New_Wurld
Grr! Was so happy with my new Schecter, but the volume knob for the neck pickup crackles when I turn it and even cuts out completely at odd points in the cycle. Is this just "dust" or should I take the damn thing back?
Members Prages
I'd go to Radio Shack and buy a bottle of contact cleaner first. If that doesn't work then your options are to take the guitar back for warranty repair, or replace the pot yourself.
Members Trader
I'd take it back and ask them what they think. Even if it's just a minor thing, they should be made aware that there is a problem which could get worse.
Members Slave_New_Wurld
Cheers guys, will take it back as I haven't a clue what I'm doing when it comes to looking at these things myself. At least it's still playable until I take it back...... Members PolyFmorf
DeoxIT from the Shack. If there is a hole in the back of the pot you can spray there. If not, pull the knob AND unscrew the nut and spray round the shaft. Work it back and forth about 50 times and presto chango, no more crackle. Members frankenbich
If it's a great guitar I'd just replace the pot myself. Sometimes brand new pots can be or turn bad. They don't always test them before they install them. I suggest a CTS.
