Members Devinstation
Just wondering if there were any good copies of Jaguars that have the same switching? If so how much do these cost? If not, how does the Mustang compare to the Jaguar tonally? Similar sounds or different beasts? Anyone know any guitars with Jaguar like tone? Members parenthetical
Seymour Duncan has some good articles about this on his website. Jag pickups are wound hotter and have a claw around them which focuses the magnetic field and makes them brighter. Strat pickup construction, however, defeats the possibillity of adding this claw without some extensive modification. . Plus, jags are shorter scale (right?) giving a little more spongy feel to the strings. Maybe install a 3 way switch to a strat and put two jag pickups in bridge and neck and leave the middle as a dummy? Any other ideas?

I don't have enough money for a Jaguar, so I can't go out and buy one. Im thinking I might just get a Mustang though, soundwise not to similar to a Jaguar except they both are pretty percussive, but they feel the same. Members TheGZeus,OnFire
Well, you could put Jag PUs in a mustang. It'll be the closest, as it also has a {censored}ty bridge design. The problem is, they don't make a USA Mustang Bridge and the Japanese Fender bridge/trem assemblies are inferior. I'm not sure WHY, but they just don't perform as well. The alternative is the Cyclone II. Float the trem enough and you can reduce the sustain to get a similar effect there.

Ishibashi will ship to the U.S. My brother ordered a Strat from them last year. I think he said the shipping was $100-$150 and he said ordered Monday and it arrived Saturday. Good service.
